Super Visa for parents and grandparents
For those who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and want to get united with their parents or grandparents, The Federal Government of Canada provides a Super Visa. Through a super visa, they can sponsor their parents or grandparents to Canada for 5 Years. Parents have the option to request to extend their stay by up to 2 years at a time while in Canada.
Super Visa is a multi-entry visa that is given for 10 years. This means that the parents or grandparents can revisit you for 10 years. However, the one-time stay should not surpass the 5 years without applying for an extension. The parents or grandparents applying for the document will be covered in medical insurance provided by a Canadian insurance company. So during their stay, they will get constant medical benefits if needed.
Eligibility :
In order to apply for a super visa as a parent and grandparents, you must fill in the eligibility criteria set by the Federal Government of Canada.
The first and the most important criteria are that you must be the parent of a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident to apply for the document. Please note, that you cannot apply for a Super visa within Canada. You have to be out of Canada and apply from your home country.
You must get a consent letter from the child you wish to visit stating financial support promised for the period of your stay, and a copy of their Citizenship/Permanent Residency document.
The last thing is that you must have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company valid up to 1 year from your entry and which has at least 100,000 coverage. According to the Government of Canada, you must “have proof that the medical insurance has been paid (quotes aren’t accepted)”.
If you submit a quote, the application will get rejected automatically.
